Storage of EMR Patient Records
In order to help you meet your patient record retention obligation, RSRS requires the EMR records of all patients.
EMR patient records must be converted from a proprietary EMR format into a universal digital format for long-term retention and retrieval. In order to do this, you’ll need to:
- Notify your EMR provider to schedule an extract of EMR records.
- Your RSRS IT specialist can work with your software provider, ensuring that RSRS will receive the material in a usable format and in a timely manner.
- RSRS requires that data and all associated images be exported in a standard format (e.g., XML).
